Kilpilahti – towards becoming a pioneer in climate work – preliminary study

Porvoo aims to build a hub for environmentally friendly technology in the Kilpilahti area. According to the Kilpilahti – Forerunner in decarbonization report commissioned for the development of Kilpilahti, achieving these goals would require investment in green hydrogen, carbon capture and utilization, waste plastic applications and processes, and change management.

The aim is to develop Kilpilahti into a leading international center of expertise in industrial climate work, which would serve as an attractive green innovation platform for companies. In spring 2021, the development company Posintra brought together a group of companies operating in Kilpilahti and representatives of the City of Porvoo and the Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Council. The aim was to consider how the public sector could support Kilpilahti’s climate work objectives, which are always company-specific.

As part of this discussion, the working group commissioned a report in the spring, which was produced by the consulting company Synocus. The report was commissioned with AKKE funding from the City of Porvoo and the Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Council. You can download the report below.
